Prof. Touradj Ebrahimi (EPFL) visiting Prof. Jean-Luc Dugelay (Eurecom)
14.04.2014 - 19.04.2014
Internal Visits

Coordination of the joint collaborative proposal for ‘mini-drones’ mini-project. This mini-project is the result of successful continuous collaboration between EPFL and Eurecom on evaluation methodologies for assessment of visual privacy. This mini-project focuses on privacy protection and ethical use of mini-drones in surveillance applications.
The proposal for the mini-project was presented at the VideoSense Summer School (in the middle of the research visit) and an open call for the participation in mini-drones mini-project was sent to VideoSense partners at the end of the research visit.
During the visit, Eurecom and EPFL have identified the scenario of using mini-drones for temporary car-park surveillance. To proceed with the mini-project, it is necessary to have a relevant set of video data, hence, 15 different types of video sequences were planned to be shot using mini-drones. Several steps of the mini-project were also identified, including generation of video content, analysis of the
technologies and applications, detection and tracking algorithms, visualization, privacy tools, etc.
During the visit, ‘parrot’ mini-drones from Eurecom have been used for demonstration purposes. The visit has contributed to WP2, WP4, WP5, WP6 and WP7 activities.
